2009 cultural calendar features works of local artists
The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council has produced a 2009 cultural calendar, featuring works by local artists along with dates of historical interest to city residents as well as activities planned for the community in the coming year.
It is currently on sale for $5 each at Seasons, the gift shop for the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, and at the Downtown Artists Co-op, 96 Franklin St.
Artwork in the desk calendar points to the diversity of the local arts community by showcasing pieces in stained glass, fabric, acrylics, photography and oil.
Artists whose works are featured in this juried publication are Lorene Hutcheson, Betty Liles, Gail Meyer, Jim Hancock, Gabriele Wardeiner, Billy Renkl, Debbie Schmidt, Susan Bryant, Beverly Parker, Terri Jordan, Leo Adames, Cheryl Hardy, Dixie Webb and Bruce Childs.
Juror George Anderjack selected the 14 published pieces from numerous submissions. Anderjack has served as executive director for the Tennessee Art League, Santa Barbara Historical Society, Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, Ventura County Museum of Art and History and the Nez Perce County Historical Society in Lewiston, Idaho.
The calendar was printed by Jostens Printing and Publishing.
