Janet Felts will conduct a free workshop on Tips for Plein Air Painters in Dixon Park (Tenth and Commerce Streets) from 9:00a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 16.
This workshop is designed to prepare those unfamiliar with plein air techniques to take part in the 2Rivers Plein Air Paint-Out in Clarksville Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11.
Janet is a member of the Nashville-based “Chestnut Group: Plein Air Painters for the Land” and has helped to organize several plein air events in Georgia. She will discuss practical strategies of plein air painters — from dealing with changing sunlight angles to efficient equipment choices to preparing wet canvasses for exhibiting.
Janet, an award-winning artist who has had her work juried into several shows throughout the Southeast, started her career as a Graphic Artist and then taught high school Visual Art in both Tennessee and Georgia. She earned her associate degree in Advertising Art and her BFA in Art Education from Austin Peay State University. She earned her master’s degree in Art Education from Georgia State University.
The 2Rivers Plein Air Paint Out is sponsored by the Clarksville/Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council, 2Rivers Painters, and the Downtown Artists Cooperative.
