The 2017 Cultural Calendar features the work of local artists Jim Diehr, Beverly Fisher, Bob Gandy, Malcolm Glass, Lynne Waters Griffey, Ron Jackson, Lisa Kemmer, Betty Pierce Liles, Ray Szczepaniak, Patsy Sharpe, Karla M. Tucker, Shea Halliburton Wright and Tariq Yunis.
This calendar is dedicated to the memory of Shea Halliburton Wright (1982-2016), whose photograph of Dunbar Cave is featured on the front cover. Shea was a passionate and amazingly talented photographer. And more than that, she was a beloved wife, loving mother, dutiful daughter, devoted sister, doting aunt and loyal friend to many. Her professor and mentor, Cindy Marsh, recalled, “She produced an artists’ book in my book arts class in 2004. It was about her relationships with her family members. On the last page she wrote of her self portrait: ‘I am loved. I have a great life.'” Cindy commented, “Shea lived a phenomenal life — she did more in her 34 years than most of us can do in 70.”
Artists were encouraged to submit original work related to Clarksville and Montgomery County for inclusion in this eighth annual publication. Area landmarks and points of interest including Dunbar Cave, Liberty Park, Wilma Rudolph Pavilion, Riverwalk and Strawberry Alley are showcased through photographs, paintings and drawings.
In addition, each month lists some of the rich opportunities Clarksvillians have to enjoy in the form of musical and theatrical productions, art exhibits, and historical talks and tours.
Printing services for the calendar were provided by Jostens Printing & Publishing.
